Nelson Rigg

Nelson Rigg

I recently returned from a 6000-mile trip on my Illusion Red GL-1800. I rode from Seattle, toured through the Midwest, into Texas, out to the Pacific Coast and back up to Seattle. I previously had reported on a Nelson Rigg back seat bag that I really liked and decided to try a couple more of their products on this ride. Knowing I would run into some rain sooner or later, I took along the Nelson-Rigg two piece rain suit. This rain suit has suspenders for the pants that really keep them in place and the jacket is very well vented. I was in some real down pours with high humidity and I never once felt uncomfortable or got wet. The collar also has a soft material so you don't get that rubbing plastic around your neck feeling. The red and back color went well with the Illusion red. The zippers are well protected with multiple flaps. I own the Hondaline cover for the GL-1800, but for this trip I wanted more protection then it affords. Nelson-Rigg makes a cover that fits the GL-1800 that is more substantial than the Hondaline. Although it takes more room to pack, it provides more protection. It is also half the cost. It has vents located at the mirrors that are very effective. With the Hondaline cover, my bike would get wet underneath with heavy downpours. This cover is damn near rainproof. Also, it won't blow off the front tire in high winds like my Hondaline has because of an integral tie strap (bungee). I've hit 100% on Nelson-Rigg products so far- just wanted to pass it along.
